18th/19th
18th/19th
thought i would start this one, i know its a bit early , but i thought it had to go in here anyway ... today i changed the back up starter motor in the beast , as it started to play up and sound like all the parts were having a mud fight
, so i rebuilt my one that came with the truck yesterday , so that went in today , and tomorrows job will be to rebuild the back up one, then it will be all sorted , till the next mud trip
, also it got a wash today , and a check over on the hoist at work , and everything seems to be the same as last time i checked everything out
. so i think the plan for the rest of the weekend to come will be work saturday morning , then picking up a car in the afternoon for a friend , then not sure what the plan is for sunday , ill guess ill have to wait and see what the rest of the week will bring

Spent the day at field days with Pedro and Gazza. Didn't spend much myself. Shedloads to see, walked for miles. Caught up with badnuz. Pedro is enjoying his new ARB jacket skid!

Ship in port of Wellington so walked down to nearby ARB dealer , checked out there Taupo 1000 race truck , purchased highlift jack. Not a major achievment apart from carrying the dam thing back to ship, arms about 4" longer.

Wot from the track? or Home....
Bummer
Pulled front bar off and moved radiator out the way so I can get in and do some grinding / drilling for the winch rope path to the mid mount winch.
Have a play at some welding next week....

Re: 18th/19th
went in to buy a new roll of mig wire and came out with a new tig welder, time to work out how to drive the beast and start making some new shit. Need to get an argon bottle now. Anyone know how the mig will go on argon rather than co2? I got a duel argon reg so i'm hoping to only run (hire) one bottle.
Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level then beat you with experiance!
Re: 18th/19th
I've done that when ran out of co2 in a workshop , it burns well, cleans the steel in front of the weld pool an plasma field area like a acid bath dose, cool to watch

Re: 18th/19th
Painted the roof light protector and rope holder I made on friday afternoon. Will refit tomorrow...
Decided to rearrange the layout in the back of the truck as I seem to knock air hoses off or loosen wiring when putting spare cloths/bags in the back of the truck on club runs!!
Remounted computer behind drivers seat, moved fuel tank, air compressor, air/hydrolic ram and pump/filters forward so there's room at the back for storage without getting in the way of wires/hoses.
Tidied up wires/hoses with a few more clips and a bit of conduit...
Found a crap load of dirt hiding above body cross members and exaust shield when cuting them off to move fuel tank forward!!

Re: 18th/19th
I cleaned up the Lada alternator, ready to fit.
I just need to wait until I'm free to go to the farm to fit it
Other than that I scoped the net looking for parts for mine and my Dad's project SP250 (well, actually SP450...).
And I got the project Mini running, so now I can swap that engine into my daily driver Mini. Anyone on the lookout for a Mini Clubman body, complete, minus engine?

this weekend i took my truck for a warrent after doing all the work they gave me last time including certing it.
vtnz, the barstewards, failed it, and gave me another list as long as the last one for various things, mainly rust. i argued till i was blue in the face, in the end all i got was, 'we all make mistakes, i missed it last time i checked it' and 'all i can do is appologise'.
pissed off, all work done, just needs to go to the panel beaters now for some rust love and it might pass depending on if they find anything new this time round.
vtnz - joke. rant over.

I've only ever heard bad things about them, apparently they are jsut drop out mechanics, they dont care about important safety issues but are more fussed with minor things that dont really matter, I will never take my vehicles there, just hope i never get a green sticker...
