What dose this mean when the rear diff lock light is flashing?

I used to get that occasionally when taking my Pajero out of 4WD. Generally speaking, I used to just go through the process again, put it into 4WD low with diff lock, drive forward a bit, then reverse the process of taking it out of 4WD.

Worked all the time, just a bit fiddly.

As always, do it on gravel
