You used the "out" banjo bolt in the right place?
Does it change things if you pump primer plunger on filter?

Cheers,

I dont know too much about the 1kz but did you fit the pump put the gears on lined the marks up? and is the marks on the pump housing lined up with the marks on the housing attached to the motor? Is that how you set the timing?

possibly rpm pick up is damaged or not plugged in properly.

i can't quite remember with them if there is some play to fine turn the timing. there was some info on the surf site about it.

I had everything at TDC when i took the pump out and put the new one in.

I spend the good part of thismorning trying different sensors and mucking with the timing etc. Could it just be another melon pump??

Does anyone have a pump i could borrow for a few days to see if it is??

As from the manual

Code 13(Revolution Signal 2)
Check wiring & connector (Diesel Engine Revolution Sensor)
Check Engine control computer

Code 14 Timer Control Valve
Check Wiring & connector
Check Fuel Filter (Frozen / Air in )
Check Fuel Filter (Choked)
Check Injection Pump (internal pressure)
Check Engine control computer.

If had 14 come up when ive had water in fuel filter or when its done about 20,000km

Have a look at this... Seems like voodoo, but actually works, I fitted a new pump, manually set timing, wasn't happy with it so tried this and was much smoother on startup.

Yup, no harm in trying it... It's like a tune up while you sleep! Works on lots of different vehicles apparently.
