hilux 84-88 tyre clearance

Post by hilux81 »

Hey im slowly doing up a yn65 hilux, have done a 2inch suspension lift and about to do a 2inch body lift to suit engine transplant. Does anyone run a 35inch tyre on a hilux with no gaurd rub without shifitng the front diff housing foward?

i'd say there would be no rub if your high enough and have the right offset rims. only reason people move the diff forward is a better approach angle.

another option is to use the search button mite answer ya questions aswell
needs more curry

not true

the diff gets moved forward for a few reasons, the main 1 being to give clearance for guard rub. (rub at rear of front tyres/wheels)

you WILL get guard rub with 33s and bigger.
remember raising the truck will let you run big tyres for driving but soon as you go offroad and start bumping around and flexing the wheel still gets stuffed up into the same place

i agree with j-dub

I fitted 33's on my ln106, and had to "adjust" the floorpan and rear edge of guard.

the prob is, as the suspension compresses, the rear spring shackle layout actually allows the diff and tyre to move further back than at norm height

that said, my 33's only rub on the edge of the rear guard, which has been trimed about 50mm, but with tour body lift (which I have not done. ya may not need to trim that far.

but I doubt if ya will be able to fit 35's with out moving the diff forward
Got a Daihatsu Something, hasn't got a Daihatsu engine.... or diffs.... and it doesn't have windows.... or doors.... but its got tyres.... :)
