Mornin all,
Can anyone help with a set of body to chassis spacers for my '76 FJ40? Stock sorta size would be fine, slightly thicker would be ok but not too much as I don't want to start messing around with the steering column etc.
Happy to pay for new ones if someone can do them for a reasonable price, will probably need bolts and nuts to suit also.
Post or PM if you can assist.
Cheers in advance.
Greg.

prob look at something with a 60m.mo/d which will suit the fj40 and just get hold of a plastic place who sells umphe solid rod and i think the fjs have x6 mounts on each side? .and a ten m.m hole through the guts
when i make my blocks i always part them in the lathe for the simple reason they are perfectly flush opposed to drop saw giving a cockeyed finish.
good luck greg

hi mongoose..
i used 50mm solid round bar, cut it to be 3" and used a lathe to put the 10mm hole in, as krawlr mentioned.. worked out well with longer hi-tensile bolts and nylock nuts... dont know about the legality of what i did though...
made up ten but only ended up needing 6 for the whole truck as the front is quarter guards bolted to the tub and sitting on a 3" piece of rhs up front under the grill...
unless you want to go stock? let me know if ya do...
good luck with whichever way you go..

Thanks guys.
I'll probably just go stock Niblik, this is for the truck that's been restored so I'm not going to stray from factory with it for the moment until I decide whether I'm keeping it or not. I need em as I didn't get any with the truck when I bought it in bits. Where's the best place to get the bolts and Nyloc nuts from?
Now I've got the scruffy V8 one too it just seems to make more sense to sell the restored one when it's done rather than start to bash it up. Then I can just abuse the V8 one which is already pretty bashed up.
But then it's tempting to start off with the tidiest truck possible then it'll last longer. I'd just keep both but I'm not sure the missis will agree.

Can you help with stock spacers Niblik?

Managed to get some blocks together the same as the stock ones which I had a couple of. Just need a couple of longer bolts and I'll be sorted.
The resto truck is getting close to warrant ready now, getting quite exciting.
Thanks for the advice guys.

hi-tensile bolts and matching nylocks are available from blacks fasteners... they looked after me...
good to hear you found mounts.. are they new? if so,where'd you get them from?

Thanks Niblik, I'll drop in and get some fresh bolts as a few of mine are looking a bit tired.
I actually found enough mounts in the many boxes of stuff that came with the truck when I bought it.

Not all of them have the metal u round them with the captive nuts on them but I've found some other bolts, spring washers and nuts that'll do. Celebrated by taking it for a drive round the village with the screen folded down, the big 6 really pulls hard.
Now I just need to work out some catches for the half doors that will keep the warrant guy happy and get H20LOVA to stick some glass in the windscreen and it's ready and I can actually come out with the rest of you and get it muddy.
Cheers,
Goose.
