Big ups to Superior Regrinds in Nelson

A HUGE BIG UPS TO THEM
Superior Regrinds, and Tom the owner did a no-holds-barred job of getting me mobile again, in a very short space of time.
I dropped in mid-morning on the Monday and they told me the head was most likely cracked, as thats what 3.1 TD Isuzus do... after a $2-$2.5k estimate, and no other easy option I gave them the go-ahead about lunchtime Monday.
They removed the head, crack tested it and found nothing wrong, so it turned out it was a (very rare) head gasket failure... how many companies would have just done the head anyway?... They took the time to fully diagnose the head and check it - then skimmed it and re-fitted it.
Along the way they suggested I do the EGR valves, which is a small job thats been on my list for a while now - so I got them to do it "if they had time"... well, there were 4 or 5 of them working on the truck through till late Tuesday evening to get it running again for me (they were all standing on pallets on forklifts to reach the engine bay
) and they actually managed to change the cambelt and do the EGRs for me as well... and what an awesome job - I'll take some pics of the job they did cos I think its a damn fine example of how jobs should be done.
Anyway, long and short, the bill was around $1500 all up, very very pleased with the service, and the timeframe for delivery. If you have any engine work needing to be done, I can't recommend these guys highly enough - and if you mention my name (well, my truck) you might just get the job done more quickly
