What would you consider high milage ? I am looking at an 88 model swb with 380km last owner for ever and regular servicing

The moon is 384 thousand ks from earth  haha.

I've seen trucks going strong well on from that value but I've seen some pretty tired at a lot lower ks. Depends on how reliable the service history is I guess and how hard the 380 ks have been.

I'd be looking to make sure bushes and wheel bearings are ok. They might have all been done by now. I'd check the gearbox shifts alright and sounds ok too.

just spoke with owner who has had it serviced every 10k , owned for 16 years, only selling due to retirement., still say it only uses around a pint of oil between every oil change, just had injectors done also

Old dirty diesels like that should be having the oil changed every 5000 kms, i know they have 2 massive filters and about 11lt of oil but 10,000km is to far between having fresh oil.

you think about most diesels do 10000kms between oil and filter change. if you have 11lt and 2 big oil filters, should easly do 10000kms and be fine for atleast another 5000kms

Around here you can't really trust kilometer readings either wound back or a switch fitted so some will be a real lottery.

this one is genuine same owner for 15 years, at 63 years old he is to old school to cheat the system, wof results show consistent milage also, still thinking but 380k still scares me a bit

If it's priced right, it drives well, and is in good condition, milage isn't a concern........

ive had several high kms safaris a 320,000 and a 550,000 they were both good trucks and actually the 550,000 truck went better, i have a feeling the 320,000 truck had done twice that amount as it seemed sluggish in comparison.. neither truck gave any problems.. i suppose what i am saying is drive two or three different ones to compare, safaris really do differ some are slugs and some seem are really responsive.
