 I made the mistake of takin my s3 landy with its ld28 thru a puddle i didnt check first turns out they really really dont like water much. I have bent a rod into a nice u shap from this lesson thankfully it was only a quick look on trademe to fix my mistake $250 and a newish motor  NO MORE SWIMMING LESSONS at least not till i make a snorkel up for it. Has any 1 else been as foolhardy as i have?

i had a mate in his swb landy go out with an ld28.. we went throough a bit of a tidal creek to the ashley beach and had lunch no probs... on the way back we went through the same bit of crap but the obvious happened and the tide came in... he went through and got water into his snorkels intake from a backwashing bowwave, engine sucked a bit in, cough cough splut...
( i think from memory it was a snorkel that was stickin up on the left guard, mushroom styles...)

he took out the glow plugs and turned her over, did the usuals... started her up, with what he could hear as a slight knock in the engine and then proceeded to limp home.. gutted.. lucky he has numerous ld28's at his disposal..

anyways, glad to hear you got it sorted.. 8)

Mine was a similar sort of noise on the entry to the puddle then it locked solid i think it has bent a rod!!!. However i have done the swap and now have a better condition 28 in its place i think i will put a proper snorkel on it this time.

i have made numerous snorkels for landies/rangies and the problem is generally around the origional air box, use plenty of sealer

Im lucky on that side of things when they set it up for the ld they used a truck barrell type and the intake is already pointing to the gaurd so half the work has been done for me just need to make the holes in the ally for the pipes to go thru and fab up the pipe work around and hour and half or so. But yes i think i will buy a tube of silicon just to be sure this time the swap was not as easy as i thought it would be for some reason i had a bastard of a time gettin the motor back on the box even tho I double checked it was all lined up just 1 of those things i guess some ya win some ya smash in till ya win :D If it dont fit get a bigger hammer
