Speedo on TJ

Post by WRNGLR »

Hi all, the speedo on my TJ gave up the Ghost the other day, electronic, mega short SYE with tone ring and sensor set up, all other gauges are ok, anyone got any ideas.
have read stuff from check out dash connection to transfer case will start making noise soon and will blow up?? the latter being a little far fetched I think.
But if anyone can lessen the gap between the examples given I'll be glad to listen

cheers
Greg
Yea, though I drive through the valley of death (and it's mudbogs), I shall fear no trail;for tho art modified is my rig, and thy lift kit and lockers they comfort me. Amen

There is a self check for the instrument panel. Hold the speedo reset button in and turn on the key, each instrument should move through its full range in turn. That will tell you if the speedo is working.

check the voltage out of the sensor on the sye and the connections too bud. From memory theres nothing else between there and the speedo in the way of sensors.

hey while you're there mate how much float should a TJ rear axle have, mine seems to be about 2--3 mills in and out, is that about normal ???

axle: Ive never had any movement. RJ did and replaced the bearings. Cant say wether its normal or not.

ECU: I thought it went through the ecu to the speedo. If you can wait Ill pull out my TJ FSM tomorrow and check.
