Cobra Springs or Maxi Trac
Cobra Springs or Maxi Trac
Hey,
Just after some opinions about these springs. Does anyone run them or know of someone who does. I have used the search function but there was only 1 saying they were sagging after 10months and the rest were saying they are used with the raw and cobra set up.
Looking at a Set for the bighorn but just wan to make sure they wont sag out in 6months like some other springs.
Cheers
Ray

Re: Cobra Springs
I had them in my safari and they were great.
Toyota Landcruiser FJ40, front and rear lockers, 35" simex.
Toyota FJ45 build in progress.
Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.

Re: Cobra Springs
got them in my safari and found the rears to be good but fronts bit stiff. found 80 series fronts flex better.
Re: Cobra Springs
Brought Dobinsons for my Safari, scratched the paint putting them in, turned out they were Cobras sprayed blue. Were great no sag noticed while I owned it and flexed well.
Re: Cobra Springs
I grabbed a set for my Disco, asked for a HD 2" lift, at first lifted my truck 65mm from where she was seating prior to the springs, after about 6 months they dropped down 15mm, so was happy with the way settled, gave me my 2" from where she was.
Second set of Cobra for the Disco was a 3" lift, back was 2nd hand and already settled and the fronts where brand new and settled down 20mm, spaced them up to stay at 3". I am extremely happy with the springs I have, great flex yet still a firm spring.
If you talk to the place you are going to get them from, they can contact Cobra and get them to make what ever spring length, for soft, hard or whatever you fancy. Plus they are made in NZ

Re: Cobra Springs
Sweet cheers for all the info.
Looks like I will give them a call and get them ordered. I will probably go the H/D kit to stiffen the rear up a bit and still get some decent flex. I then ned to look at the front end but when funds come through I will SAS that so wont worry about doing anything to the IFS that just yet.

Re: Cobra Springs
If you fit H/D springs you will reduce the flex.
I run Cobra's on SWB Prado, Happy with them. standard wire size with 50mm lift.

Call Chamberlian suspension (they manufacture the springs) in CHCH, I got my set direct from them for $400 for the lot incl. shipping. Either Mark or Mike is the name of the owner and he's great to deal with.
Park on flat ground for the first few weeks until the springs have finished sagging otherwise the vehicle develops a lean... But otherwise good springs and good factory support.

I think I have delt with him when finding out information about the springs I think its Miles lol. Yeah the last thing I want is a crooked truck lol.
He quoted me more than what the local guy has quoted lol so will stick with the local shockshop at this stage.
