8th and 9th july
i went out around the winui coast with a club today (sat), got bout 45 mins into the day and my transfur case started to play up. poped out of low range then wouldnt go back in straight away. got it back in in the end tho. Parked it up and left it. didnt want to be towed out by a jeep  . drove it home and the noises got progressivly worse. bad start to the weekend for me.
Started on a few jobs that have been on the cards on Rangielux.
Fitted up some alloy door skins to the inside of the doors
(there was nothing before)
Wired in a thermo switch to the radiator fan - rear rad and used to have the fan running all the time with the ignition - much better now
.
Made up a removable bar over the top of the roll bar behind the cab and started mounting up the 4 spots to go up there (and 2 more to go on the front bar) - bring on the first night run

Spent Saturday sleeping and vomiting after far too much Copperhop and white wine (not in the same glass) so didn't get as much done as I wanted.
Got the body bolted to the chassis on the resto project FJ40 so just some glass for the windscreen, some catches for the half-doors and some radiator stop leak stuff and it's ready for it's warrant. Took it for a spin round the village to celebrate.
Started making up new carb gaskets for the Holley on the V8 FJ40. Hopefully that will get it running decently so I can take it over to the Sheffield Mudplug. Definitely going to need some tyres for it though.
Starting a welding and metal fabrication course at CPIT in a couple of weeks too which should increase the motivation to go out when it's dark and cold and get on with the garage duties.

i competed in the 24 hour challenge with 17 other vehicles 2 other clubs and heaps of mud, winching and generally caning the old nissan. put a another small dent in the lower rear panel and almost rolled it. look for next months 4x4 action mag it should be in there, congrats to bruce hughes and his team from the southland land rover club who took out first place.
Sat pulled the front axle and cut the spring perch'es off, rotating them 6deg to sort out caster change from the rear to front spring swop.... had a mate over that night helping out

A wet arse is easily fixed!! Could have been a whole lot worse..........
The MU was looking fairly precariously perched when Niblik and i first arrived on the scene
A good bit of team work soon had things sorted.
wet arse all the way home, but it was a good day great fun

Well nothing happend as exciting as the water antics down south.
Went up the aotea block again at night(never get bored of it especially not is this wet weather!) Did a lot of wet slippery hill climbs, had the old sliding down the hill feeling(couldnt actually stop on it) and having to spin the wheels forward to actually get the tires to get grip. It was a long long hill with a bank at the bottom to get onto it so acclerating down the hill was out of the question
Was about to call it a night then jumper got stuck, pulled him out, then managed to slip into a drain and his engine stop
This was all on a slippery wet grass section. We all got him out in the end and off home. Dam it was slippery up there, so much fun!
Have to pull the front end apart now as got a couple of bushes binding on the half shafts.

So far so good though, body hasn't fallen off going round a corner, now all the other crap like making new or modifying the old bars and bumpers etc etc.....

On that note, anyone want a set of 33 X 12.5R15 Yokohama Geolander M/T's?? 13mm Tread, mint condition, with black ROH 15 X 8 rims. All tyres have tubes fitted. PM me if interested.
Bloody good tyres by the way
