right well truck is almost all sorted in the servicing way.
time for upgades
truck is for club trips daily driver and towing (recovering) jetboat.
so plans are as follows
snorkle , suspension lift, mt's on diffrent rims and possibly rear diff locker of some type.
now the problems. it is a 300tdi diesel so not the worlds most powerful beast, tho i am going to be putting pyro guage in and will start to tweek pump. . what size mt tyre can i go without loosing toomuch power? is 32 inch too big? not really into cutting up the body as truck is dam near mint.
with the suspension lift how high do i go? as still has to be daily driver. will i have to lift for 32s? or better going 31s? truck has 245 70 16 ats on atm.
what is out there for rear lockers in these? as last truck had rear air locker and the difference was amazing.
cheers for any input,

Good choice in vehicle there
You can go to 31's but will still need a camel cut (cutting behind the rear wheel) and a 2" sus lift. 32's will need a guard cut or +2" sus lift. Even with a V8, you loose noticeable power, upgrading crown and pinion would fix that problem. A guy from the Hutt on here changed to Toyota diffs, Pedro????
I don't have a locker at the moment but am going to purchase in the near future (sshhhh don't tell the bank "wifey" manager), welded diff will be done next weekend. Alot of guys are using the "auto locker" in their rigs and am reading good feedback about them, also using a Truetrak up front giving them awesome traction.
One big thing to upgrade is your soldering iron, mines had a hammering soldering all the dry joints in all the boards in this truck

Ya don't need to fit a pyro to tweek the pump.
Fit a boost gauge instead.
Base your tuning on that.
Its simple, the garrett on the 300tdi spools up quickly, once its at full boost there should be no smoke.
If there is smoke, that means you have gone to far and your egt's will have increased.
This won't be much of an issue unless you touch the max fuel delivery screw. You can get good gains from it with out effecting your egt's much at all.
If you just adjust the low manifold pressure delivery srew and the fuel rate delivery needle, you will have a noticeable increase in acceration off the mark and it will pull harder through the rev range..
Heres a snippet of what I did. I do have to much low manifold pressure fuel going in at the moment though, its a bit smokey off the mark if you get it wrong:
DieselBoy wrote:Was in a tinkering mood last night, so decided to see if I could boost the low end performance of the the 300tdi.
They are always a little sluggish off the mark, but are so clean running (no smoke) that you can't tell they are a diesel.
So basically they have reduced the fueling at low manifold pressures to a minimum to eliminate smoke, at the cost of supplying fuel to get the Turbo going.
The 300tdi has traditional VE injector pump, which is awesome because you can do all sorts to dial up the engine output!!
First up I prised out the tamper proof cap and turned up the off boost fuel by adjusting the diaphram a couple of turns and then back a bit untill the smoke turned into a haze accelerating off idle.

Then I went deeper and popped out the fuel delivery rate needle
and adjusted it 90degrees closer to its richest setting.

Then I adjusted (reduced) the preload in the spring which operates the needle by rotating the star wheel around half a turn. This should give it fuel more quickly at low manifold pressures and help heaps with the low and mid range pick up.

I stayed away from the max fuel delivery screw at this point, as it has enough top end to keep me happy. I was just interested in better off idle and mid range performance with out affecting the EGTS much.
Be interesting to do a road test in the day light

http://members.shaw.ca/jbarge/tires.htmlThe "camel cut" is easy to do, I'll track down a piccy of it.....
Here we go.....Have a check out of this site, plenty of advice for cutting there....
