Re: winch rope wanted
Any COOKES outlet can help ya. Maybe not the cheapest, but seems to last better than some of the cheaper stuff.
Toy - Zuk chassis tub, hilux 4.88 axles and transfer, Nissan CA18DE motor and auto trans, sc12 supercharger, 32 10'5 simex, twin motor 8274 custom freespool. Well the parts are all there in various corners of the shed

i always buy from truck and winch in usa rather than get ripped off in nz, they advertise on ebay, $129 usd for 30m of 12.5mm with free shipping at the time i bought, comes with protector on the first 2m. usually takes 10 days. they do 10mm aswell. (plasma rope that is not steel cable)

http://truckandwinch.com/tuff-stuff-synthetic-winch-rope-92ft.html ????
27 and a bit meters of 1/2 inch (12.5mm) rope with breaking load of only 7.5 US tons (approx 6800kg) for about NZ$165, where's the value in that? Its called ripped in the good ole USA.
Shop around, there are plenty of good (and local) options.

I think your calculations are a bit off.
Web site just quotes 7.5 ton (assumption is its US ton as its a USA site)...
If it was US tons you would be correct...
But it also says 16500 lbs
But the 16500 lbs = 7484 kg
and 7.5 British ton = 7620 kg
and 7.5 metric ton = 7500 kg.
Anyway buy local and support our NZ suppliers !

i am not being drawn into any pathetic he said she said arguments, at the time it was a good buy and i stand by that, its of good quality and does the job... unfortunatly there is competition out there these days and and the world is a smaller place, buying local doesnt make good sense from any point of view, if a local dealer goes out of business becouse he cant compete then he should lower his margins or change suppliers, if i can buy it cheaper so can he!
as far as i am concerned in these hard times its every man for himself, i am by no means well off and dont earn the kind of money where i can chose to pay $250 bucks for rope when i can get the same or similar for $170, that $80 bucks extra goes a long way to putting food on the table being patriotic doesnt. Tell me why i should pay more?
