Hey Dave!
Awesome! HOPEFULLY the truck will be good to go so Ben, Dan and I can come for a skid! Putting the leave app in this week
Is there no racing on the Friday this year?

Hi Cam,
Racing all day Saturday and on Sunday morning.
Vehicle checks Friday afternoon.
Have confirmed on-site BBQ both days and Sunday lunch at rugby club.
Still negotiating Fri and Sat night food and bar options.
I will ask for your preferences with those on the entry form (when I get it finished).
Competitor entry is now confirmed at $250 (same as last year).

Re: Manukau Winch Challenge is On
Keen but with Taupo1000 only a few weekends earlier and me going away for 12 days between Taupo and Manukau, I might be pushing it.
Do you know yet when entry will be due by?
Also I will need to sus a co-ey.
Cheers.

Re: Manukau Winch Challenge is On
Hi Arron,
Don't bust your truck before Manukau as it is the premier event of the year! I can find you a co-ey no worries but given the distances you might have to go down the far end of the farm on the Friday for team training. If you need that, I can fix it with the farmer for you. (No peeking at the competition stages though).
An entry waiting list will start when I have 24 entries as it is my opinion that this number is a practical maximum (gives competitors 16.6% seat time).
With the current stage arrangements I can cater for an absolute maximum of 28 entries which gives 14.3% seat time.
The event committee will decide if the stage arrangements can be changed to cater for more entries (depending on marshal availability).

I can't really comment on your trip to Gwavas other than to wish you well. An excellent event which I have also done. Several Manukau guys will be there to defend their win last year. Just pray for good weather because when it turns bad, it's really bad.

Re: Manukau Winch Challenge is On
Hi all,
Entries have been a little slower than originally expected. 15 so far. They are made up of 7 Club, 3 Challenge and 5 Modified.
So, let's have some more entries guys. The late entry penalty has been removed.
Over the last few years, 'theft to order' of 4WD gear and even vehicles has become more prevalent. While I'm sure our lot don't have anything to do with this, in order to do my little bit to help I will not publish a list of entries. Note that the entry form doesn't even ask for an address.
Should a competitor wish to identify himself, that is his business and on this site actual user identification is quite well masked.
Anyway, on to the event. Marshals are all organised and trained. Stage setting over the next 3 weekends.
Onewhero is a small community about 40k south of Auckland south of the Waikato River. We have the use of the Rugby Club facilities all weekend (from midday Friday). It has toilets, showers cooking facilities, lounge, bar etc. Camping is available or you can bring a caravan. If you would like to rent a caravan then PM me with your contact details & I'll forward it on.
Racing will be on the farm we have used in the past at the end of Parsons Road. There will be 8 Saturday stages and 4 for Sunday morning. Up to 2 more stages may be available depending on weather, ground conditions and time available. Stages will be trial run before the event to establish DNF times.
There will be no night stage on Saturday night. I just don't want vehicles hooning along Parsons Road in the middle of the night potentially compromising our good standing in the local community.
The local fire brigade will be on hand with a BBQ and a coffee type guy has been arranged. Sunday lunch is paid for in the entry fee and as last year will be prepared by the fire brigade. I have been unable to arrange a food service for either Friday or Saturday nights at this stage so it could be a case of do your own or head off to Tuakau (6km north). I'll compile a list of establishments there and their operating hours for competitors anyway.
Stages will be set mostly within reasonable walking distance of the road end to maximise spectator access.
4X4 Challenges rules are now done for testing. Should be on their site but aren't. They are what we will be using. I'll get them onto the Manukau site (see 1st post of this thread) as soon as possible.
So, get those entries in and let's have a great weekend.

Hi all,
It has now been confirmed that there will be a food service operating at the rugby club on the Friday night. It'll only be burgers & chips type fodder though. The bar will be open too.

The rules change somewhat if it was openly advertised that the public are invited to come, so we have not done so, however, if you were to drive to the end of Parsons Rd, Onewhero anytime on Saturday or up till midday Sunday and see something that interests you, park in the appropriate place and while consuming NO alcohol, walking your dog, or carrying a gun, you will be able to see whatever you want, all well within a short walking distance

What Bernie says is good but leave the gun at home too.
Finished setting stages today. We may have to reset some a bit harder on Friday if the weather stays dryish. (Having just said that, it's just started tipping down). Have a couple of extras lined up for if things finish early.
