lifted xj/zj owners with track bar ball-joint issues

Post by xj »

Hey all, ironrockoffroad now have a RHD adjustable front trackbar, with a new mounting bracket that bolts on to replace the stock bracket (which is also bolt on) which eliminates the tie rod end containing the ball joint. This is similar to the setup on the new wranglers etc. I was about to build a bracket and get a chromoly heim joint to do the same thing.

Last person I heard of doing this it cost $500.00 nz dollars for an engineer to do + the track bar.

Im picking this bracket and joint end (i already have their track bar) will be about $150.00 nzd

Quote came back, incl freight at $197 and a few cents. Freight seemed a bit high, but they provide 3 options and those options prices to provide a choice.
$197 still seems reasonable considering a chrolomy heim on its own was going to cost nearly that.

I'll be speaking nice to te bride tonight. Something along the lines of how much i'll be saving when comparing it to $36.00 each time a tie rod end wears out (you know the go... like they do when they can get a pair of $300 boots that will last so much longer than the $100 ones)
