surf Auto NO GO

Hi all, managed to stuf auto g/box in my surf at the weekend, local suops want 3 - 3.5k to repair it, are they very hard to repair or do i find a used 1. or even convert to manual.

Check the Trans codes under the bonnet both those autos may actually be the same should be A343F or something close

tha code for my v6 auto is A343H on the chassis plate. if is same and you are keen let me know as it is on trade me at the moment.

just been out to garage it's A343. if the diff between the H & F dont matter im intersted.

OK what it looks like is the difference is in the transfer case, one is most likely got an electric drive for selection the other maybe hydraulic or vacum
You can probably use the auto and change either the transfer case or the 4wd select and away you go..

f is usually from a turbo diesel and the h is from the v6 i think :scratch:

yeah you're pretty much spot on there suprasurf. from what i've
read the only difference is the transfer box. The F box is electric drive for the selection and chain driven and the H box is hydraulic. the main gearbox is used in toyotas, isuzu's and even jeeps in the states.
