GQ wheel nuts loose, torque settings??

Post by muskie »

i am sure my front wheel nuts are working loose, whenever i go to take a front wheel off they never feel that tight and undo fairly easily, they were always ok with the old standard wheels its only since i put new 15x8 steels on... anyone know what the torque setting is off the top of there head???

Just checking, but did it have alloys on it before? If so, are the wheelnuts themselves got the normal taper on them? Some alloys have stepped nuts that wouldn't have the contact area to stay tight.
Could be easily overlooked

wheel nuts are from the stock steel rims fitted from the factory so should be ok.. i will try the correct torque setting (thanks coxsy) and see how they go.

Make sure that there is no paint, grease or oil on the countersinks .

If wheel bearings have a bit of slop in them - this can loosen wheels nuts especially if those new wheels have more offset and bigger tyres mounted on them.

done wheel bearings up slightly and regreased today, now running 35'' with 8'' rims so all could be related, torqued up. will give them a week and re torque.
