Nice one skid. Enjoy your time with your daughter in the snow. Lucky bugger.
Finishing one job and starting another is always an unsettling time. Hope it goes well.
Long weekends are cool.

I've loaned my pad out to my step daughter for her 19th birthday party this weekend. I'll be the bouncer on the door all night. It's fancy dress so should be entertaining..

I think I'll be the first one starting the weekends achievements for the 17th. It's Dunedin's Winch Comp that weekend. SO looking forward to it.

been pissing about and learning about clutches the past week, have made 4 trips out to the clutch place at 100km per round trip :x and have gone through 4 pressure plates until we think we've found something that will work. After talking to a few people I flagged away the original 12" chev clutch that came out of the truck, it was rebuilt not that long ago and its not strong enough its down to 2400 psi clamping pressure already. My old 11" flatdeck chev clutch that spent 4 years only going to church on Sundays still came up pretty good but I got my hands on 2 centreforce pressure plates with centrifugal counterweights on the diaphram, one of them turned out farked coz its been running the wrong release bearing and the other one was almost brand new, still had the factory machining marks on it and was only pulled out coz of a clutch plate problem and the whole lot was replaced, they pulled it apart and machined it anyway coz there was a couple of heat spot marks on it. They gave me one of those dual friction$$$ clutch plates with the segmented side that’s supposed to concentrate the clamping pressure to improve its holding capacity so we’ll see how well that works?

I will be attempting to get the Lada going.

The Dizzy cap, points, condensor and rotor were supposed to show up this morning. But they didn't.

Someone knocked on the door after dark, turns out the Lada stuff was delivered to 106, not 103. But the package said 103. And it was also signature required, so who the fark signed for my Lada stuff?

Good on ya NZ Couriers

i run a duel friction throw out weight centre force and it seemed to hold up ok when it was on my 383 motor so you should be sweet as with it in the 350...hope it holds on my new one

Beer Cruiser and Suzuki1k came around this avo and we setup the new clutch and stuck the engine back in, its a slightly deeper clutch and a longer release bearing/carrier so had to do a bit of measuring and guessing to make sure the clutch fork could travel back far enough so the release bearing wasnt loading up against the pressure plate but it all worked out sweet, it only needed a wee bit of pushrod adjustment to get it all right in the end, had the truck started and the clutch tested in the shed, only got all the loose ends to tidy up now then stick the bonnet back on

Got off work early today, contact laminated some glass to the area where I want to make a door thru the floor to get access to the PTO shear point.
Shot out and got some nibbles and booze for tonight's game and off early sat to get some new tyres on the van. (failed WOF) :(
Sunday might get the truck ready for next sat in woodhill.

So far, I have got the Lada running, got the timing a little closer to perfect, and play around with idle and all that.

All I need to do now is sort out fuel mixture, and the brakes. And the accelerator cable. And the niggling rust. And buy some new ignition leads. And better sparkplugs. And fix whatever else breaks in the meantime...

Ground down all the rust I could find on the body of the lada, and primed it ready for skimming, then eventually painting.

My mate and I had an idea of painting it bright pink and orange, just to add that in-your-face element to it. Comments on that paint scheme are welcome...

Leave a bit of black like wide masking tape strips, then we can name it "The Liquorice All-sort"
Still won't make me want one. Hate Liquorice :P

Cheers,

That actually sounds like a good idea.

But I will want to eat it all the time. I used to live off liquorice allsorts whenever I used to stay at my Nana's place

Maybe I could paint the middle strip bit black, and pimk above, and orange below? (side strip can be seen in the following photo)

Just got back from a epic day in the Firewood loop (Akatarawa forest), headed in at 10am this morning and got the the start of the track at 10:45 am, managed to get out the other end at 8:10 pm! only 4 trucks, three with winches (2 that worked after about 40 minutes after we got in there - cooked motor) A few trees were down but nothing to major.

When we got out we were faced with a rather big tree that we couldn't cut through, so it was back the way we came in... only took about 30 minutes to get back out...

Fantastic trip and thanks to Lyn, Ashleigh, Hayley, Mark, Willie, Rob and Graham for a fantastic day!

Good days play yesterday in Woodhill, Heap of vehicles in there, after leaving the carpark saw the recovery patrol twice, Thanks christ for that 1st time was GIVEN 2 8.8 bolts and nylocks to hold my drivesharft on as 2 bolts were gone and the other 2 were ready to fall off. 2nd time was to be told go down there and take the 2nd turn on the right - New tracks with no signs the most fun all day. Thanks guys and then at the end of the day saw some of our other club guys otherwise didn't know anyone else was in there.

Many thanks to the man from Shore who GAVE me spare bolts would not accept an payment for them, TOP MAN.
