Just joined - Question re treating rust in cab

Hi guys,
Great site and a wealth of info.
I have just stripped an 85 hilux single cab and it is getting garnet blasted. Has some rust around the firewall/ windscreen seam which I have cut out and will have patched.
The blaster is advising priming with 2 part epoxy primer.
Is hot dip galvanising the cab an option or would the cab be wrecked by the heat?
I have seen an FJ40 that was HDG'ed and the tanks at CSP are large enough for the job.
I would appreciate hearing your ideas about this,

Personally i'd go with the 2k epoxy primer then put your body filler on if needed, then 2k filler primer, block it back then paint. Once painted undersealers and cavity waxes.
Not a big fan of Hot dig galv on a vehicle bodys. But thats just my 2c

Hot dig galv warps steel beams and plate steel panel steel wouldn't stand a chance of being straight afterward

How long do you expect to keep the Hilux? If you cut out the rust and weld in new metal then hit it with a Crc zinc-it, you'll get 10yrs out of it before it becomes a problem.
Even then you could do it again

2K EPOXY PRIMER IS A MUST Dont fill or prime over bare steel or etch primers it will not last or fall off,2K epoxy will seal the steel from moisture and is chemical resistant,hope this helps you,im a panelbeater so if you want any info or questions answered pm me if ya want

Tom and Mud,
Planning on hanging onto it for a long time, it is one of my sons 1st vehicle and he is mad keen on hunting.
I have drilled the spot welds and cut out the cowl panel in under the windscreen wipers to get at the firewall, it had a couple of largish holes poorly patched in the corners of the firewall ( WOF by previous owner ) and was rusting between the seams. I have cut it out ( the 1mm cut off discs are great) and new steel will be welded in. I will have to treat the areas where the new steel is inserted, the rest will already be blasted and 2K primed.
Getting primer or paint into here after it is welded isn't going to be easy, was thinking cold galv by brush on the end of a stick for lack of any better ideas and then cavity wax??? What do you think?
