exhaust leak causing power loss maybe?

Post by wildplumdx »

ok so my L200 4d56-t since ive had it 3-4 years has had a pretty average looking exhaust. since i've owned it has had pin holes in the muffler. anyway I've slowly noticed power loss to a point where if its cold under load it will just stall ? maybe losing to much back pressure ? i really dont know much about exhausts but if i do get a new one any suggestions on how i should go about it ?

An exhaust leak would only cause power loss on a turbo diesel if it was pre-turbo.

Has it been blowing more black smoke as the power has been dropping? Maybe air cleaner or injectors if so. Or if no increase in black smoke then maybe fuel filter?
As IanB said a hole in exhaust shouldnt make a difference unless it pre turbo.
Good luck
