Cracked 2.8 head

I have got a 2.8 turbo 1998 Pajero with 250km on the clock which the previous owner ran out of water and cooked it. One way or another it is going to be fixed.
The head has a number of cracks so is shot.
Do I
a) put a new head ($1000) on it and carry on
b) but a new (2nd hand with warranty) motor in for $3000
c) new head and rings and bearings and hone in current motor for $2800
a) is the most appealing but the chap reckoned it was a bit slow turning over after it got hot. The bores look fine with no scoring from the rings if they did expand a bit hence me coming up with options b) and c).
I don't want to put it back together to find I should have done rings.
What ya reckon?
