Don't know how much that engine could handle safely but I sure a lot of the skyline stuff will bolt up to it which will have it cheaper to source parts.
If u wanted power and don't mind going to petrol a nice mild built rb30det engine with 25 head would get ya 400 hp and it bolts straight to gearbox.
Others will have more advise on diesel engine and how it handles it

Hi, i have the rd28, none of the other engines are available here. Its going to be plonked in a JEEP CJ6 .
A friend had got and ARB turbo kit for the rd28, after the conversion there was too much loss of power, hence i wanted to hear from anyone here who did the turbo conversion.

The turbo off an RD20 will fit. May not be very big, but is sure made a difference to the landrover it was fitted into!!

I am aware of the rd28t and rd28ti, but they are not available here in India.
The only thing i want to know is ,are the internals strong enough to run a turbo around 1bar boost?
Will i loose low end torque in the process?
How much boost can a stock RD28 take ?

Just a thought I had a rd2.8t, whent ok did take a bit to spool up turbo about 2-3 seconds. If you can sorce parts cheap go for it other wise I personally would look into a 4.2t with gearbox better resale value, power and reliability if that is impOrtant to.
As far as I am swear the rd28 are the best to engine swap v8 etc as the diff gears are a lot lower and can take bigger tire if u do the engine swap
