my "other" far more enjoyable job,

Pest control for local farmers ... not quite making enough to live off yet, way more enjoyable than sitting in front of a computer all day though.

good one even tho I would rather see the bunnies running around, reality is shoot the hungry little buggers.
I see a flaw in your business plan. If your any good at the job your doing yourself out of a job. may be you could try and get them on the menu at some local restaurants

naw unfortunately OSH regulations put that in the too hard basket, I get a "bounty" on the rabbits, I fill a 44 gallon drum with possum/rabbit/Hare carcasses and he swaps it for a pretty purple note

, most of my money comes from possum fur, the rabbits are the biggest pest for the farmer though, and seeing the devastation they can reek on dairy paddocks is amazing.
The best of the bunnys and younger hares go into the freezer for dinner, the rest in the drum.

theres a big demand for it again around here, 20 years ago the local council used to have a pest control officer on staff that rostered around the farms keeping the numbers down, no one does it these days and the numbers are increasing again, especially Hares as they don't have any monetary value like possums and very few people like eating them. I started out shooting on a couple of properties, now the words got out and more farmers are ringing me and doing the same 44 gallon drum deal

Let me know if you're after someone to go wandering around up there with. I've yet to find any good spots down here after being blessed living in Waiouru...

mate has conned me into taking him up the Maremare track to retrieve a trophy head he shot just as the track closed for the winter, best of both worlds ...bit of 4wding and taking in the .222 to see if i can get a bit of tucker for the freezer.
