couple of escudo problems

hi guys ive got a 89 escudo with the legendary 3 speed auto the gear box slips when cold usually in the morning only on the first shift after that it comes fine and will shift properly all day with no problems. has anyone experienced this ?

also after half hour or so of driving the idle bounces between 1500 and 2000. any idea whats wrong ?

any help would be appreciated as right now im clueless

Have you checked the oil level in the trans? Check it with the engine running and the trans in park or neutral.

Try a Google search for slipping trans.

Check for vacuum leaks for the high idle speed.
