Greetings from the Frozen North

Greetings guys

Newbie from Canada here. In fact I'm a Brit but been in the Great White North for 7 years. -10C here today, no snow yet, but everything is frozen! Will be down around -35C by mid winter :shock:

Getting me a 1992 Nissan Terrano WBYD21 TD27T diesel with only 50,000km on the clock imported from Japan. Going to be a major expedition truck build. And seeing there's a few of you guys that run these units down in NZ I thought I'd sign up and pick your brains!

Used to have a 1994 Nissan Pathfinder WD21 VG30E petrol, but frame cancer and a whole lot else has turned that truck into a parts source!

Look forward to learning a heck of a lot over the next few months!

Thanks, looks like a great forum here.

Basically I've got a 4 stage build lined up for this Terrano:-

1) get her compliant for licensing in Canada - swap over the LHD headlights, day running lights, a few other minor things

2) 3" Body lift & 3" suspension lift - including painting the hell out of the frame and underbody with Por15 anticorrosion paint, sway bar disconnects, 33inch tyres, electric fan, heavy duty steering linkage

3) Engine tweaks - including snorkel, PCV venting, EGR deletion, possibly an intercooler too.

4) Armour and winch - ARB winch bumper, hydraulic winch, custom rear rock crawler bumper, rock sliders.

Going to take me a while, but my basement is filling up with parts already!

Anyway, I did about half of that on my old Pathfinder before the chassis rusted out, so a some of it is just a swap-over with a good coat of paint!

Welcome Mark,
As you will see, I run a Terrano hard. I have stumbled on a good formula for these trucks. I'm up to my second one now and it goes as hard as the first one. There are some essential up-grades needed to the steering and the TD27 is easy to get really good power out of with a few simple enhancements 8)

Yes, these trucks are as tough as nails. Wheeled by old D21 petrol-powered Pathfinder harder than I would have thought possible. Impressed the hell out of the Jeep-fixated North Americans! Never really broke anything, apart from eating through steering linkages like they were going out of fashion. Imagine it will be the same for the Terrano. My old Pathy died for other reasons - primarily a rotted and cracked chassis. She'll live on in parts, lol.

I will post pics once I get the truck from the rail yard, but in the meantime, here are a few of my old Pathfinder, wheeling in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.
