TD27 alternator upgrade?

Looking for a higher output alternator for the Nissan TD27T powerplant than the weedy stock 70 amp unit. Any suggestions?

I gather the 12V 90 amp V-belt unit from the GQ Patrol's TD42 would fit, but are there even higher output units out there? It would need to have the attached vacuum pump that the TD27 needs. I've heard rumours of 100 and 110 amp units for Patrols.

So any info, on 12V V-belt high out-put alternators with vac-pumps that would fit the Terrano's TD27 powerplant would be awesome - especially suppliers, sources, part numbers etc

Thanks!!!

You are really stuck with what you have on these, the biggest I know of that fits is the 80amp isuzu 4jg2 alt.
The only option if you are serious is to change the front timing cover to the 95 on version which has the vac pump driven off the timing gears. you can then run what ever alt you can find that fits.

Other option is to run a commercial deep cycle battery....or two.. so the alternator is notrequied to work so hard over short periods of time. Otherwise as dan said . Buy a wrecked eti engine for its parts....

still only get 50 amps though, or gut the original alternator so it,s just a shaft from the V pulley through to the vacuum pump and bolt the later ETI 110 amp onto the engine elsewhere

That could work if you bin the Ac compressor. The only down side is it will be low on the engine and get full of muck. If I did that I would go and get a 160 or 200 amp bosch unit to mount down there, They are cheaper new than a 110 amp nissan one is new and more reliable.

I wonder how hard it would be to chop up an alt and just make a small belt driven vac pump to low mount.
