Thompsons 22nd July 06 O.R.E play

Post by wopass »

:D well the weather turned out fantastic again for us with not a cloud in the sky and no threat of rain

group drove as convoy over to the start of the track where missile was unloaded off the trailer and wheels changed on Moriarty's Ssang yong
Image

(which towed the missile on trailer from hamilton to the track and back...and did it very well !)and were off ! !

Image

gentle climb up to the top of the track with a couple of tight spots...
DB

DB daddy

but no hiccups to the top.

view of katikati
Image

then DB drove up to the summit to have a look and actually see how well the new wheels worked..... and work they did  those things are awesome on the safari :D

so of course not to be out done i had to pop up there for a quick photo pose 8)

me and DB comming down
Image

after we had all had our fill of coffy and chippys etc we trundled back down to the crossroads where a bit of playing in the mud was enjoyed

DB :D

Image

then on down to the next play stop where we played follow the leader(sort of) around some big puddles

Image

and then i thought i might make another track in the trees  ...the cruiser really is a great track maker  .... well it is all going to get flattened when they log the area so i thought i would get a start on it for them

then back down to trailer where wheels were changed and tyres were re-aired and then home.

great day, great crew, great fun :D look forward to the next one

will add photos as i get and upload them

Bit of an improvement with those 35's on DB. My 31's are really starting to look like trainer wheels now :(

Man, its a different vehicle all together

AWESOME :!: :!:

The power difference is only on the road, and its a bit like driving a LWB instead of a SWB, so bugger all. Offroad you don't notice it

It crawls every where now, its great, and has power enough to still throw mud in 1st 4H if need be

I'll have to get my pics of the camera...................

TWIN LSD's? how? what? Mine is a Korando, the very basic model, like a series 3 landrover with aircon, comfort and SEATS!! hehehehe solid transfer case, no silly diff in there, and a std front diff IFS setup. go well? I should cocoa!! had runny mud halfway up the doors at one point, I was too quick, Mike wanted a foto but I was thru it and away. Its very very nimble, best stering lock for a 4wd I have seen. New? YUP!!! its just had its first birthday.
Dont tell anybody, but Rolloverrover and I had it up to 170kph not long afta it was run in.
some silly bugger in a Holdon Rodeo wanted to play...... he lost.....

Cant wait to take it out again. The Siwsan is still shaking her head about the scratches all down the sides after we took it over the 42 Traverse. On ROAD tyres. There is another one in Wanganui, its foto is in the 4WD drive mag, June issue. its a 3.2 petrol all the bells and whistles, auto too.
Goes well, too.

Uploaded some movies to my albums. Page 13 of albums, look for the nested album entitled "Thompson's" Rather impressed with Wopass's method of doing a U-turn.

Still looking for a play area here in Wangavegas, maybe go over to Wharite TV Repeater on the tararuas and explore the Windmills and tracks around there.

I am all pissed off at Wopass for introducing me to this expensive and fascinating new way of playing and using up surplus money!!!

For revenge, all you Hamiltonians are invited to HIS place to eat venison Sausages.!!!

That'll Larn yuh!!!!
