Nissan Rev Counter not working

Post by Biggrant »

Hi I have a 1993 LWB Safari and have had fitted an 89 non turbo motor and transfered the original turbo from the 93 motor onto it.

Now the rev counter pick up is different. The 89 has the pick up at the front of the block and the turbos are on the side near the alternatior. It seems the two pick ups are different and I cant get the rev counter to work. Has anyone any idea on how this can be fixed.

Tried to fit an 89 Rev unit into the dash cluster but it would not fitt. Like wise the full dash cluster is wired differently so that did not work either, so some help would be greatfully appreciated.

can you change the pickups over. afaik the blocks are the same so should just be a case of taking the blank out and fitting the reader.

Hi looks like they did not have the blank on the earlier model only on the later TD42T's. We looked at that option. Thanks

I've no specifc experience of this vehicle or motor but may be able to help.

I take it you still have the original sensor along with the one that's currently on the motor? For a start can you measure each one with a multimeter and tell us how many ohms they read?

I have the opposite problem...1991 Safari (grey dash) but previous owner fitted rebuilt motor (obviously newer model block) so my tacho won't work either...took a while to track down that i need the earlier tacho sender...now, just have to find one...
