Hey Guys
I have recently noticed in that there is a power loss / shudder in the acceleration in my truck around 2500 rpm. It is more noticeable in 4th and 5th gear. Does anyone know what might be causing this?
I spoke to a mechanic and he said that there might be some water in my diesel filter? Any ideas on that?
Truck is a turbo diesel 3.0 hilux surf only engine modification is a 3" from down pipe.
Cheers Guys

Water in the diesel filter should trigger a dash light, but you can try draining from the bottom of the filter housing anyways. When was the diesel filter last changed?

If its the 3.0l 1KZTE.... there is a boost cut at approx 14psi...
Perhaps you are over boosting (just a spike)...now that you have opened up the exhaust a bit...When it comes in it feels like its dropped a cylinder...
Other than that..water.......injector playing up.....ecu on the way out....fuel pump on the way out

Cheers guy. finally took it in to my mechanic today had to get some other stuff fixed first $800 later not so happy haha.
He reckons that its the fuel pump cant pump enough fuel when you have your foot down because of the new exhaust creating the need for more gas than when it was the standard. Aparently you can get the fuel pumps tuned so they will pump more? What you think?
Cheers Guys

it would have to be going extremely lean to make it that noticeable.
i have an 80 series cruiser. 3 inch exhuast, front mount intercooler. stuck it on the dyno. at 10psi and at 14psi, 14psi makes no more power than 10, cause there isn't enough deisel going in to support more air. start spraying meths and water into, well thats another story all together
