yip, im new here and from te puke.
iv just brought a 93 escudo. its for carting my dog and going to work and hunting.
its the five door manual 16 valve. most 4x4ing people seem to like the 3door. but i wanted more room, and figure its still a small 4x4.
im just fixing a few things for a w.o.f and some preventative maintenance.
cambelt and waterpump, rocker cover gasket tomorrow.
then to change the oils. and clutch cable.(were is the best place to get a cable)
anything else to look at?
i dont spose anyone has a service manual they want to share?

iv been wondering about winches. most bolt them to the front, but i have seen one on the rear. if there bolted to the front can you run the cable underneath to the rear. if so... do you need to fit some guides or anything to do so?

Hey dude, I'm new too so welcome ;).

Unsure on most of your questions but WRT the winches. From what I've seen and read. Most guys have forward mounted winches attached to the chassis rails with strong plate steel and high tensile bolts, normally in the fashion of a fabricated winch bar. As for a rearwards winch, I've seen maybe two installs of winches under the rear of the vehicle, in a similar method to a forward facing winch. I'd be guessing the fabrication for this would be slightly more extravagant. I've heard of a third option (but never seen it or photos of it) where by you mount the winch forward facing but under the center of the truck and have a system of pulley blocks underneath to reroute the winch cable to either the front or rear fairlead. Personally, I don't know how successful it would be, but I would suggest you'd have to set it up to one or the other direction before a trip.

Maybe some of the more experienced members could expand on this and your other questions
