Can someone please suggest to me the 'best' oil to use in the standard rear electric locking lj78 diff. I have seen various hints that you need to be careful with the locking diff but nobody has actual said - 'use this' - not that I have seen or can find anyway!
Thanks

Re: Lj78 diff oil
I use this oil;
http://www.redlineoil.com/product.aspx?pid=44&pcid=8 available from BNT.
I use it in both diffs of my KZJ-71 Prado. The rear like yours is the E-locker and the front end has a 4 pinion rear style LockRight. It will help with the high shock loadings that get applied when snatch towing or those applied to the 1/2 shaft splines when cross axle-ing with wheels spinning and then taking load.
LSD compatible oils are for the clutch type arrangements of a limited Slip diff. Entirely different from an e-locker.

Re: Lj78 diff oil
just get some 75-90 should do. redline oil is said to be good but i dont see a difference and the bottle looks ugly....
they cost alot too. i use 75-90 Titan, good oil too. just do a regular change. good oil does not last for ever either.
