body mods

Post by gismo »

Hi Team
Hope everyone has had a muddy Christmas.
Hoping somebody can shed some light on what you can do body wise without certing.
I have been told that you now have to cert the rubber gaurd flares. :?:
what I was thinking about was flaring and trimming my gaurds, just not sure if it can can be done without cert. trying to get less rub without body lift and without a cert.
any ideas
Chris

Looks like you've posted in wrong forum area, hopefully my reply won't make it hard for moderators to shift?

I was reading the VIRM the other day, and when it comes to changing wheels/ offset width etc wof book says (interpretation of wording) that any change is ok, as long as tyres stay contained inside factory guards (including factory fitted flares).
If tyres poke past guards/ factory flares, then the wheel track must not be over 25mm wider than factory without cert.

So for wof;
* wide wheels inside factory guard = fine
* wide wheels which needs extra (eg rubber) flare = must have cert OR
* flared guards and wheel track less than 25mm wider than OE = fine

But cert in this case is more for the wide wheels than for the flare itsself.

Hope this helps,
Nathan
