Hi new to offroading with a YN65 Hilux, in Te Aroha

Post by Spoonman »

Hi im Ben
Live in Te Aroha so a local too Thompsons Track

Ive owned a 99 D22 Navara for awhile now but it had a really good paint job so i never took it off road other then to get firewood, too good looking, so SOLD

picked up a 1988 YN65 with a 3Y in it, belonged to a old guy from ashburton so it had pink seat covers & a stuffed clutch but the body and interior are in mint condition, (for now), no rust anywhere, and has only done 150k im hoping. i brought the petrol as i am OVER RUC and diesel registration

I have just put some 31x10.5x15 kumho M/T on second hand but still have 6mm on some 8" ROH whites.

Plan is 50mm body & 50mm suspension lift.
Front bull bar, with winch.

This has to remain my daily driver as well so i cant get too carried away with it,
Are there any locals who are willing to pull people out in exchange for a box off piss? in case im not going up with anyone else?

What it looked like the day after i picked it up, went up track as it was dry as, my brother pointing out how gay the basic 28" tires on 6" rims were.

Hi mate welcome to 4WDing and the forum

theres plenty of locals up that way that'll help with recoveries but be carefull who you choose and what they want for recovering you, best to go with a few mates so you can recover each other

just read that thread you pasted in.......... might think twice about that call out, and just get a winch, and for now stay on the easy side of the track

Hi spoonman,
Was just out with weeman on 23rd, quite a few boys around he knows that are always having a play so you shouldn't struggle for company up Tommie's.
