Anyone else have 4Y engine?

Hows your fuel economy?! Im getting 16L/100k with no town driving and mostly on the flat! Which to me seems pretty ridiculous for a little 4 banger that doesnt even put out 100hp. I used to get less that 11L/100k in my 3litre skyline driving it lead footed.
Now I know its a carby motor but still..seems a bit much to me. seems to run pretty well though, a little rough at idle but thats all. Timing is ok, choke is locking open as it should when warm, no obvious fuel leaks. If this figure is about right then it might be time to look for a simple EFI engine conversion. Otherwise open to ideas where to look for a problem

Cheers for any input,
Clive

used to have a van with one. can't recall actual usage tho i remember it was fairly hungry. mind you it is a 2.2 litre carby pushrod engine.
the surf 3y came out with fuel injection that may be an easy swap over.

never had one but there knowen to be thirsty little buggars so I think you'd find 16l/100km might be within the range, if its any consolation I get around 25l/100km in my cruiser

they are ridiculously hungry. low performance engine having to work bloody hard to haul big trucks around equals pouring petrol through them

I figured as much lol. Might as well chuck a V8 in it if i want to used that much fuel lol. I believe the 3Y EFI gear will all fit on, though the ECU wont run the 2.2 at its maximum bugger all potential. The simplest option I can find would be to chuck a 1G from an old cressida in..apparently fits straight in with 1G bellhousing. 2L EFI six should be way better than the old donk
