What do you need to do to fit 35's on the SWB safari ?
Being non turbo would it slow it down much ? or should i stick with 31's ??
Whats your thoughts or experience please

a 4'' suspension lift will do it, maybe a higer gear sets off 4wdbits
89 safari, pto winch, 33x15 simexs. sliders,75mm lift . turbo intercoolered
Re: Safari on 35's thoughts/opinions ??
On mine I have
4 inch springs
longer shocks
drop boxes
longer rear trailing arms
longer brake lines
gearbox spacers
4.6 diff gears
dsr turbo
rear quarter guard chop plus a bit trimmed off the wheel arch
Panards
Cost around 6grand to do it all
I drove it around non turbo for awhile with just the 4.6gears, it was fine on the road but off road I found it to gutless.

If your on a budget...2" lwb lift springs or 3" swb springs an 3" shocks put the 35"s on an see where the rub, trim accordingly

As for slowing it down, if its non turbo itll already be painfully slow so just put them on an drive it then save up for a turbo

Didn't barbie drive a jeep??
Re: Safari on 35's thoughts/opinions ??
i did 3'' spring lift and wasnt enough for 35 simexs, so i had to do a 1'' body lift which i wanted to avoid but i didnt want to fxxx up my tyres so i had to. drop boxes etc etc.. my personal opinion is stick with 33s if you are not turboing...that is just my personal opinion and what i would do as it keeps the truck useable on a daily basis, if you need it everyday. you will get fed up changing them back to road tyres after every trip if you fit 35s and dont turbo.

Had a Lwb on 35's (kl71's) not a true 35 though 34.something?
2" suspension + 2" body. A nice cheap(er) solution, avoids the need for brake lines, drop boxes....etc
Minor trim in the guard behind the plastic and a little trim for the gear leaver.
Was used as a daily driver and had no problems on the road.
I didn't bury it up to its nuts often so it worked well for me.
I never had a problem with power but a turbo would of been mint.
You do sacrifice power but then you do gain clearance, going to 35's would give you 4"s.
My saf was a learning curve, have a build thread here so feel free to check it out and ask q's

Nope, going to 35" will give you 2" more ground clearance than a 31" tyre
Ugly is a state of mind..... and the state of my truck!

Just put 33's on. that way you get best of both. Even with those you get rub on the factory flares. I've taken them off and replaced with converyor belt. it gives heaps of clearance. This is with sagged factory springs

This is the biggest issue with bigger tyres .35's really rub here.

My Patrols on 35 simex, 2inch spring blocks and 2 inch body lift with 4inch lifted shocks alround (in aid of better flex), had to cut 1 inch out of the rear of the front gards and still need to get rear of rear gards rolled abit to clear. As for the power side of things mines non turbo, auto and still got factory gearing and i dont struggel to spin them up off road, onroad still plenty of power, just the kaimais and the bombay hill its struggels with
