4x4 wanted

Post by Filthy4x4 »

Hey guys,

Im after a dedicated offroad truck.

Ive been browsing trademe for hours havn't really found alot (about 4-5 trucks).

The predicament im in at the moment sees me with a 98 KTM 125 sx dirtbike, fresh race rebuild (with receipts for $1500) has done about 5 hours since rebuild, has expansion chamber, "unbreakable" front brake and clutch handles, aftermarket handlebars, new adjustable rear shock, fresh gearbox fluid, has been painted black with stickers on it, can't remember the other things done to it but theres not alot left standard on it. Its a bloody nice and quick bike, i REALLY dont want to let it go but I need to play in the mud on 4 wheels again...

So does anyone know of anyone that would be interested in either buying or swapping me for a trailer truck?

Have been told by a bike mechanic a fair asking price would be about $3800ono.

I have a small trailer I can throw in with the deal but its a pretty shit trailer and has no wof or reg, I was planning on fixing this up when I was back at work and getting it legit, but with my birthday late next month im wanting a 4wd so I can go ahead with my birthday plans.

If anyone has spotted any trailer trucks for sale round Auckland ways feel free to post here 8)

Requirements,

Im open to anything, jap/american/euro whatever as long as:

Its solid axle all round
Manual (preferably)
It runs
Its reliable
Preferably got (decent) mud tyres of some kind.

Cheers

Caleb

Good move trying to buy something already built and ready to go but I think you'll find you'll have to up the budget a bit to get something half decent on a half decent trailer, you'd get a good trailer with the bike money but I dont think it would come with a truck

trailer trucks pretty much come in two categorys, hacks that get trailered around coz there unroadworthy old heaps or proper modified offroad trucks, you want to try and squeeze the budget to the latter and you'll save more in the long run

I should have made it a bit clearer... Im more after something that I can A-frame and eventually build a trailer for later on down the track.

I would love to build up a bigger budget and will try to expand it but my spare money likes to play hide and seek with me

I would ideally love a 70 series or a chevy blazer/ bronco (just to be different), just want something to drive offroad really  I dont mind something standard if its a good base to start with, I can do all bar work and basic mods myself

Ive had my eye on this for a while, looks like it has some serious potential, with a nice set of simex's or mt117s  im sure it would go a fair way...

This one looks interesting but I have no knowledge of landys or what something like this would be capable of:

As a landy owner, stay away from them, if your looking for reliability. all good if you have a big budget etc. that top zuk looks the go id say. chuck a winch and some decent tyres on it and you have a capable club truck. my 2c.

I think I might just take that advice then, I had a feeling that a landy wouldnt be the best option for me. Cheers
