Hi guys, I have a 2000 dbl cab lux 5l with 5speed box. The gear lever is quite sloppy when engaged in gear. have been told it could be a little nylon bush that it pivots on, Before I tear it apart for a look, has anyone else had a similar problem?
Cheers Macca

Is it slipping out of gear when you drive?

with very light pressure it is moving to neutral, not so much slipping, Forgot to mention its done 250000k's. It does feel to have slight vertical movement also, eg i can pull it up and down a couple of mm if i try

yes had the same thing on my prado, easy to get to, is a small plate on top of trans, 4 bolts and you can see it. there is an access panel to get to it in the truck on the prado, you may have the same thing. cost me $20 from a gearbox place for the new part. hope it helps

Yep ring lineside and get a kit.
It's a nylon ring (goes in where the ball on the gear lever sits) and a nylon cap (end of gear lever)
I think it's called a shifter set
Cost about $10
Fit it yourself and Bob's ya uncle.(or maybe ya auntie
