hello there.

I'm looking at doing a 1uz-fe transplant into a 2nd gen surf.

i have the prices for the parts and would like to know if there is anything else that i would need, other than a cert. the prices are,
Dead Hilux surf 2000
1uz-fe 1595
Clutch flywheel set 1800
Manual Bell housing 650
Headers 1025
Drive shaft hoops 100
mounting brackets 345
Oil filter, fuel pump and fan senders 744

i would also like to know what surf is best to use to start with, i was thinking of using a manual petrol V6 so that i could retain the original gearbox. would this be a good choice for the conversion?

also, could somebody please explain the order in witch things are done for this conversion, and how to ensure that everything will fit together(drivetrain)?

Add at least grand for little bits, hoses,clips,fuel line to name but a few. You putting it in yourself? Done any work like this before? If doing it yourself got a decent workshop? Welder, hoist etc done a few repowers and it will take approximately 80-100 hours drive in and out.it things like throttle cables, relocating brackets. Air filters take alot of time. Rule of thumb ,80% of the job takes 20%of the time and the remaining 20% takes 80%of the time!!!!

If you can find some factory log headers (block huggers) that cuts the header price down. and V6 factory manual is easiest, however manual conversions are relatively cheap.

You doing it all yourself ?

$500 to 1k to do wiring as you need someone that knows what theyre doing.

keeping aircon as thats a whole nother ballgame.

Where abouts are you ?

i have not done work like this before but would be looking to try do a lot of it myself as i have no time limit so time is not a problem. I'm located in dunedin.
I'm still weighing up my options at moment though. would the engine butt up to the v6 gearbox or would the gearbox need to move?

you must be really attached to your surf to price up a job at $7-9k. look around there are many of there converted vehicles for sale, may be a cheaper option. if you add 100 hours of your time @ $$$, it a hell of an expensive repower.
