1990 Terrano R3M - a few simple questions!

Hi all,
As above, I have few simple questions as I don't have a manual - and in the past have been use to the basic Vitara manual cabin setup.
The R3M is a automatic - can someone please explain the 4wd gear stick, the gear stick has 2W, N, 4H,4L - I notice these option run in sync with a little green dash light display on the right hand side of dash. I assume, you cruise around in 2W, N does nothing and 4H and 4L is what you would use on the trails.
There is a sports and touring mode suspension button in the center console of car - don't no if this actually works or activates anything.....
Last of all, there is some kind of choke type pull nob on left hand side of driving wheel - what would this be for.....
Many thanks,
Blair

That knob is a manual throttle/idler, I never use mine.
Gear shifter needs to be in N before you select Hi or Lo or change out of Hi or Lo. For Lo you push the lever in as you pull it.

The shocks have an electrical connection (assuming original) and this button will adjust the damping of the shocks.
Works surprisingly well on mine - though "sport" is a fair bit of a stretch.

It electrically controls the valving in factory shocks. Never seen one that actually goes
The other things as Kiwipete says.
Cheers,

I just cut the wire to the shocks when I replaced my ones.
If they have done over 50k they are worn out anyway
