Power switch???????

Hey i got a 1995 auto escudo and its got a POWER switch. What exactly does this do?
It changes the shift points on the automatic transmission...
When in 'power' it increases the rpm’s that are required for the engine to shift into a higher gear...so will ride the gears out longer before changing.
