Both of those look a bit rough to me, I guess it depends on what you want to use it for ? I quite like this one: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-ca ... 750611.htm and pretty well priced considering everything that has been done.

Both those Zuks look rough as guts,
The scud has been on Tardme a long time...

The 413 has no mention of gearing upgrades or larger engine to turn the big tyres

What do you want to use it for ? Tough tracks ?

The whole advantage of a zuk is small and light weight , narrow track width . Add a whole heap of custom boddie fab suspension and big heavy diffs and you would have been better off with a Hilux

IMHO look for a fairly standard 413 , add rear locker , a 410 transfer , sm 30's and a winch and go have fun . Then mod to your taste as you get used to the vechile.

I know they look rough, which does make me wonder what the unseen parts look like...

Just basically want a cheap truck to hack around offroad, as I just got rid of my surf and now have a MU  but dont want to go down the same path i did last time with offroad/daily driver combo, would like to keep this one as a nice daily driver/tow wagon and just something to thrash round in the weekend.

I dont have alot to spend and am just wanting something to have fun in til I can save up for a 70 series

Fair enough :) For a off-road only hack you would have to evaluate each one on their merits. This means getting underneath them and having a look. But yeah, you will get away much cheaper buying one that already has had the basics done rather than buying a "good" one from a hairdresser somewhere and re-doing everything yourself.

May find it difficult/expensive to get jeep parts for the diff in the 413... Their not the most common things in NZ...

Buy the 413 mate its my mates old truck it is unbelievable. Will go anywhere. Someone has done a fair bit off work to it since ive been in it. From what i remember it had been geared down but not sure if it still is. If i had the spare cash and a trailer i would have brought it ages ago. I think it used to run 35s aswell. Definately worth a look
