Pulled the broken diff out of the truck from last weekend, found a farking deep grove worn around the housing $$ARB$$ but closer inspection revealed no metal in the bottom of the axle housing other than a few chips of teeth and the fresh bruise marks ontop of the groove shows it as being there from the last time the diff was grenaded  :x Madaz is bringing a spare 4.1 C&P down with him this weekend so I can get it rebuilt

Loaner diff out of the parts truck, I had to swap driveshaft yokes around coz the old diff had a square flange and there different bolt spacings to the later round flanges, was quicker than redrilling it :D

and those that are into wipers and shit I put some new washer hoses in last weekend

Classic... I did the same  $38 from Pick-A-Part 8)

Only 6 bolts so with a 14mm socket in hand wasn't too much drama to get out (carrying out was the hardest part  )

Chuck it in the back of the Lexus truck and had a few beers to celebrate :!: My boy was stoked I'd bought a seat just for him... and his sister who is due early March.......

Tidied up the truck with a bit of silicon spray....all over 8) Mud won't stick to this shiney beast  Finished off the wife's car, she had a head gasket go last weekend, so this week and weekend was finding time to change the gasket and bits. Ordered some Carling switches for my winch and things, so hopefully will get them in the next week or so, should look mint.

Got my mates truck (who is the mechanic), going with a new HEI unit, runs like a dream :)

Finishing off with a DVD night tonight

Went to woodhill, was rad! Then went up the beach for a play in the sand. On the way up we saw a little fwd mitsy with a bunch of dude drinking in it. As i drove past i thought "i feel sorry for the joker who has to tow them out".... 45min later on our way back, i got about 1/3 of the way back and whata ya know these blokes where pulled up WITH THE LEFT REAR WHEEL OFF THE CAR. Out of curiosity i drove over and asked if they where all good. They had managed to snap the hub off the car haha asked if he wanted a tow, so we got about 600m in and the RIGHT READ WHEEL FALLS OFF ASWELL!! So we had no option but to drag its sorry ass the length on the beach. Haha

Vids to come!!

Cheers Winston, haha yeah funny you say that. My mother has just given me her 1995 Pajero 3.5 V6 LWB exceed (leather and all the goodies) one problem needs a new motor and I found one for $1k (but in queenstown) so hopefully a cheap big truck. But I will still keep the bighorn as its my baby :)

Re earlier post here is a pic of us at the beach setting up yesterday was a mint day and caught a few waves on the kayak 8)

yes we did discuss that option and the general consences was that the over all cost to do all that work it becomes cheaper to buy a new long block

i will still be ringing the reuilders tomorrow just to confirm before any cash starts moving around

cheers

Why not get some larger than normal oversize pistons. I.E. greater than the normal max oversize which is usually +.080" (80 thou)

I'm no expert on Chevs but I did once drive a huge borer here in Shakeshake for a living. I recall putting larger oversize pistons than that, into some smallblocks.

My experience with sleeves is generally not good. Often they weaken the block. (less tying the head to the crank) and also often they are less efficient at heat transfer through to the water. (extra join layers).
