safari - rough running

Post by Jacko »

just wondering whether anyone has had problems with air in the fuel system causing rough running.

twice over the last few months, when parking facing uphill, starting next morning vehicle runs rough, no power, etc. problem is solved by manually pumping fuel primer. am guessing air is leaking into the system somehow.

am looking at replacing the fuel primer pump assembly in case this is letting air in. any other suggestions?

cheers.

Pull off the inspection cover on the tank, block the return line and pressurise the fuel system with compressed air and look for leaks.

totally an air leak.
replace the 1m or so of fuel line under the bonnet + hoseclamps , check the gasket on the fuel filter , replace the copper washers in the fuel banjo on the pump.
start with the basics
