I know a few people have bought the manifolds before and had problems. . . but has anyone fitted their whole kit? wondering how much power would be gained compared to a standard td42 or td42t. Also has anyone used this brand of turbo before, what are they like? and when would boost come in and max out. . .

I should be putting a turbo on my safari later in the year, just trying to get some ideas

on another note due to my issues with the fitting i complained to who i bought the manifold from who is offroader off tardme but is also Scarles Performance in auckland....... i at least expected an apology email ph call anything from them i also informed them that my input would be posted on the largest best 4x4 forum in nz (yes i admit i was hoping for freebees to shut me up  ) ..... so 3 manifolds sent before one would line up with all the head bolts, then cutting 10/15mm off the bottom front corner to sit flat, small head bolts are needed to make a spanner fit, plus cut away the panel around the shock tower so the waste gate tube doesn't break off from movement of engine, the t3 threaded bolt holes don't align with the turbo these must be drilled out and nut and bolts used and lastly if you have a pto shaft its gonna be tight getting an exhaust to fit
even talking to them they tell me many of these have been sold im wondering how many other people having issues are these cheaper manifolds worth the hassle compared to the dsr ones my opinion 2c worth/bitch/complaint done

scored a brand new scarles turbo for cheap, same type that is thier kit. going fit it to my safari in the next couple of weeks, so will let you know how it goes. just by looking at it i get the feeling they are the same as any other chinese turbo, which have a reputation of grenading.

if your going to turbo it i'd get a manifold like that or the dsr one and fit either a tdo5 or a t28. you'll get same performance(maybe better) and a hell of a lot more reliability. Hand they handle decent boost levels.

It takes 15psi or more(with a cooler) to really bring the td42 to life and those chinese turbos tend to fail when running higher than standard boost levels.from my experiance anyhow

Nts about the TDO4, but with the T28 i wouldnt run anymore than 15psi, they are good turbos though, and at 14psi should last for ages, hell of alot longer than chinese ones. I had a dsr330 running 12psi on my sr20det and after 3,500kms the shaft play was incredible, wouldnt waste money on that shit again.

DSR no longer sell the manifolds, however, the "DSR designed" manifold is readily available on Ebay

Isn't 2100 rpm a little high for the TD42? What Rpm does boost start to build?

Cheers

just as comparison my old truck ran a rebuilt td05 on a jpipe. and straight thru 3in exhaust. Was pulling 5psi at 1100rpm 15 psi at 2100rpm and held it right through to 5200rpm.
Pulled like a school boy all the way thru the revs.
I got high boost kit for the tdo5 which made it good for high boost use(elliminated the shaft flex).
As far as i know the truck is still going hard.
