Post by zephyrheaven »

Ive heard good things about Kaiapoi Repowers - my 80 needs a fettle / fuel & boost mainly
Heard the guy there has owned like 16 'Cruisers? LOL

Other one was MS...*Something? in Kaiapoi

Thanks in advance

*This will be post snorkel / injector overhaul / fitment of EGT & PSI guages to make the job easier...............

Mate has his 80 sorted by Diesel Pumps on Parkhouse Rd when they fitted the turbo kit to it. Goes like a rocket now!

Had new injectors (well / exchange) last week at Diesel Pumps - its worse than ever LOL
Phil (I think?) mentioned about a housing in the pump wearing on 80's that causes my problem - zero response on the throttle when cold / starting from an intersection
As soon as its on boost its OK - til then nada

Its going back tomorrow for a fettle in the pump

If its not night & day performance wise after this I will just sell it & buy a KZ Prado I think
Took it down to Peel Forest over the weekend & was nervous about overtaking anything - went down to the gorge for a fish last night had to wait about 15mins before it would start crawling up outta there ha ha

The last two 80's Ive had must have been a bad batch lol - no way I could ever consider towing on 34's let alone chucking on some 37's like I wanted & expect to tow our camper trailer
Thought Diesel Pumps had a dyno but no which is a bit scary - I wanted a power tune which in my experience in petrol vehicles requires a few hours on a rolling road

Fingers crossed

$2700 later its pretty good actually
New pump housing - common to all 80's pumps apparently / wear is common internally

Plan is a 10 year vehicle so I may well manual it in time (have the all hydro auto sadly)
Snorkel & exhaust next - then time for a powertune

Yeah just started a thread about em - a mate got one for his Safari & it looks nice enough - certainly nothing like the POS the Genuine Article website made em out to be?

My mate got one, for his nissan safari and it was the same as a safari snorkel brand which i have on my nissan safari, but the patten that they come with is not even close to the holes to line up, i just got one for my 80 and pattern is so close :) had to make one hole bigger sideways. but just saw a 80 crusier with a safari snorkel on it and look very much the same minus the badgeing.
seem ok so far.....

80 doing a weird thing when it slips into 4th then lockup its all over the place huge pulsing - backing off & easing it in helps
