Hi,
have any of you jeep experts had to replace the ball joints on a TJ wrangler? My WOF man says mine are starting to get a little play in them so I am trying to do a bit of research first before I need to have them done. I understand that one can get a ball joint press for Jeep wranglers but the prices I have had so far are, how can I be polite, ffffairly expensive. Anyone with any good ideas or good advice out there?

did my last one on the ZJ with a G-clamp, a socket, and a BFH. Popped in and out in no time.

Thanks guys, still toying with the idea of buying the press? Once you have it you will never need to replace the ball joints aye!

Is there any amount of acceptable play allowed? So far I have had no indication of any wobble or steering play which I would expect if the play was significant? I have heard this can be one of the causes of the death wobble the yanks talk about?

I haven't had problems with them yet. But this would be handy to have:

If you have death wobble, check control bushing first. It can breakdown with age.
