hi guys there is a few places that you have to have spark arrestors on your muffler. just wondering if you are able to make them yourself? if any of you guys have can you please show me how u have made them and the costs. cheers gbh

Go to the $2 shop buy a sieve (the thing in the kitchen you use on the flour when baking) cut the mesh part out, get a hose clamp put mesh over exhaust pipe, clamp up with hose clamp.

if he wasnt i will look into it. but i have a aftermarket exhaust system for my landcruiser so it has to be fairly wide on the end. i was thinking about getting a bit of gauze and cabletieing or a steel hose tie. would that work ? cheers

butchering a cheap sieve would probably be a fair bit cheaper than trying to buy a piece of stainless gauze, dunno never had or had a need for a spark arrestor

6 goldielocks pads up each side will give you 85 db

I went to warehouse & brought a large splatter guard...in the kitchen wear.
They are flat as opposed to concave.
I cut out the mesh then i wrapped it around the exhaust tip ....then i used a big hose clamp to secure it to the pipe...i then riveting the end together a cpl in inches from the end of pipe....worked real well.
I did it this way as i didnt want to have it just over the end & risk it being easily clogged with mud or soot.

Yep thats what I did too some time ago.

Cheap and effective.

hi guys thanks for all the info and photos it helped alot. i ended up getting alloy mesh and moulded it into the shape of the one in the photo just need to get a large steel hose clamp and its sorted. its hArd to post up photos from the cell phone so ill try get some up next time im by a computer.
