Hi all, Recently picked up an 88 BJ70. Was always more interested in cars that go round tracks fast, but with all the roading drama's that we're dealing with down here, I finally admitted defeat, and sold my track toy/Daily driver/can'teven get to work in it any more because it gets stuck on the bumps.
Have been getting into a bit of trout fishing, so thought it a good time to get something that would bring a smile to my face, even when driving to work.
Picked the 70 mid Jan, and love it. It's slow, it handles like a 3 legged pig, but for driving around CHCH, it rocks!
Plans.... Gotta get a new front bumper! Have started putting together a more streamlined rear bar, so the front is next. Got a few pics of what I'm attempting for the rear. I figured I might as well try making things myself. I learn the hard way haha! Helps that I work at a stainless company with a laser cutter
Then it's new suspension to replace the sagged originals, and some 15x8 cheapo steel rims to replace the horrible offset safari rims it currently has.

The rear bumper...I know. Shocking welds. But it'll hold!

Anyway.... Great forum! and apologies for any shocking questions I come up with!
