EGR Cleaning

I'm trying to clean my EGR path on my Suzuki

The path the exhaust flows is like this


So the exhaust runs from the head through the EGR valve (not present in photo), then will run past and be sent into the intake ports.

Now I can't blow any air through the system into the intake ports - does anyone know a trick how to clean this out?
I've attacked it with degreaser but had no luck yet, and the shape of the port means I can't get wire or anything in there past an inch or two.

The car was running like this, but it's better to have this running if possible as it cools the combustion temps apparently.

Personally I would leave it blocked up .
egr is an imissions addition , and will reduce engine efficiency and performance by mixing exhaust gas with air inn the intake manifold.
the less oily , dirty , unburnt fuel / carbon and nasty exhaust gases back into the intake manifold the better . ie all that crap that blocked the egr in the first place .

if ya really want to clean it , petrol bath.

I may try give it a soak in petrol - will degreaser work too or is petrol better?

If all fails it can just stay like that, though I would like to get it working properly if possible.

most solvents will clean it out.

for offroad i would block it off, if possible. but for on road i would get it working. as long as its not a crappy egr system they can increase fuel economy on petrol engines.

Job's been done for me

Left it soaking tonight in degreaser and I'll see how it is tomorrow, seems to be clearing out a bit of the crap.
I may go down to Mitre 10 and see if I can find one of those metal ribbon drain clearers, should be flexible enough to do the job
