Wanting to Mod my Vitara...

Post by Vitarazook »

Hey guys, wanting to mod my vitara. Lift for ground clearance, bigger and fatter tyres. Was wanting some help as to where maybe i could source the parts from. What tyre sizes i can go to without the rubbing. Want to avoid cutting guards bumpers etc. But if i have to, perhaps some advice on the best way to do so ( not keen on home jobs )

Anyone who has been their done that with their own vitara who could perhaps share some wisdom. I live in Papamoa Tauranga.

That would be mean thanks

Hi what kind of Vitara do you have? Engine, year and number of doors would be good.

There's a couple of way you can go with the tyres:
-After market rims and a body lift. 31x10.5x15 should fit
-Std rims and a bit of panel work. 245/75/16 (30.5) should fit

Suspension lift:
-50mm lift springs
-Front strut extenders or a strut hat flip
-Commodore shocks in the rear (longer travel)
-Hiem joint spacer for rear a-arm
-Remove the sway bar

Do a sreach on this forum, Kernels has a good write up on lifting a zook.

One of the best modifications that I ever did to mine was to have a bash plate made. It went from under the radiator support to the cross member between the lower suspension arms. Either 4-5mm aloy or 4mm stainless. Stops the crossmember acting as a plough in the ruts and slowing you down. Guaranteed not to regret it!! Calmini do one but an engineer will do a simple one at a less cost.
